Walk around at a DrupalCon, attend some sessions, meet new people and see what they are building. There is no better recipe to go home with three suitcases full of energy.
What an amazing edition this was, with a personal highlight too: I can put a checkmark next to speaking at DrupalCon without passing out on stage.
I've been a fan of Drupal for over 6000 days and I think I've seen most of the DriesNotes, some in person, others on YouTube. They're hard to compare, but this might have been the best one yet because it feels like a lot came together. Drupal and its community are firing on all cylinders, with Canvas and the AI Initiative as good examples.
One sentence in particular keeps resonating in my mind:
Drupal is light years ahead of its reputation.
Acknowledging it is only the first step. Action is what will make the difference.
An observation
This year I gave a talk about Drupal Canvas at DrupalCamp Kortrijk, to people who already love Drupal.
At DrupalCon I had the opportunity to show some of my work in Drupal Canvas on stage, to people who already love Drupal. That one was on my bucket list for sure.
Giving talks is out of my comfort zone, but I do enjoy the experience. Well, maybe not the 15 minutes before a talk begins. These are great opportunities and I don't take them for granted.
But do they move the needle? I don't think so. The audience already loves Drupal.
So what can I do?
I know the answer. It's something I've thought about before, but I've been holding off for multiple reasons.
Not anymore. I'm going to create video content about Drupal. My first video goes live before the end of 2026, and we'll go from there.
The goal? To bring some of the magic I experienced at DrupalCon to people who know nothing about Drupal. To show what the new Drupal is capable of, with a dash of entertainment.
The time has come and Drupal is worth it.
