Growth lives outside the comfort zone.
I'm still buzzing. The energy at this DrupalCon Europe was on another level.
Pecha Kucha: fun, but brutal
The session was in Pecha Kucha style: 20 slides, 20 seconds each, and the slides move on whether you are ready or not. That makes for a fun format, but a brutal one. There is no time to scroll back or explain a detail twice, so every slide had to land on its own.
What I showed
No theory, only real things built with Drupal Canvas:
- This website. fonsvandamme.com is built in Canvas, down to the homepage hero with Uncle JC that you edit right in the page builder.
- A page builder library. The layouts, components, sections and atoms we use at Webhaven, ready to drop into a page.
- Dropfestival. An imaginary metal festival for Drupal enthusiasts: one fictive day of heavy code and heavier riffs.
- A free SEO test and accessibility checker. Tools that run inside regular Canvas pages.
- Beatbox Network. A home for the beatbox community, launching on 30 October.
The recording is not online yet. I'll add it to this page as soon as it is.
Drupal's best days are ahead of us
Looking around the conference, attending sessions and seeing what people were working on, it's safe to say: Drupal's best days are ahead of us.
If you are looking for a web framework that is ready for the future, you should really look into Drupal.
